  • The Sky is the Limit with Lee Strand at this year’s Rose of Tralee Festival!

    Lee Strand officially announced sponsorship of the SkyFest Air Display at this year’s Rose of Tralee International Festival on Thursday, August 8th, 2013. The Lee Strand SkyFest Air Display will take place on Sunday, August 18th at 4pm at the Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre and it promises to be the largest air display to date. Also, on Sunday evening at 8.45pm in Denny Street spectators will also view a unique display, the Lee Strand SkyFyre, a pyrotechnic display from aircraft that has never before been seen in Ireland. The General Manager of the Rose of Tralee International Festival, Oliver Hurley, said “We welcome the involvement of Lee Strand as a sponsor of this year’s Festival and Rose Gathering. The Lee Strand SkyFest Air Display is fast becoming a major attraction at the Festival and we look forward to raising our heads to see the spectacular acrobatics on Stunning Sunday August 18th. We wish to thank Lee Strand for their support of the Festival through their sponsorship of the Air Display.” John O’Sullivan, General Manager, Lee Strand commented “Lee Strand is delighted to sponsor the Lee Strand SkyFest Air Display and the Lee Strand SkyFyre and we have no doubt that it will provide great entertainment for everyone. Lee Strand has a strong commitment to supporting the local community and economy, therefore it is important for us as a local creamery in Tralee to give support to a local festival on our doorstep, the sky is the limit if we all keep it local”. This is the fourth year of the Air Display in Tralee and this year the Lee Strand SkyFest Air Display will include former RAF pilots, two long-haul British Airways pilots, aeronautical engineers, Air Corps, Gardaí and a dentist! The Lee Strand SkyFest Air Display will also feature "Aer Dynamic", a two aircraft team who will give the impression that they are hurtling towards each other. Pilots are Gerry Humphreys, a former RAF Harrier jet pilot and Eddie Goggins, a dentist in Dublin who has flown over 50 different types of planes and helicopters. The SWIP Team from the UK will also be making a return visit to the Lee Strand SkyFest Air Display. Another formation team, the pilots are British Airways pilot Guy Westgate and aircraft mechanic Peter Wells. The SWIP team will also carry out the evening pyrotechnic display over the Tralee Town Park, which can be best viewed in Denny Street. The Irish Coast Guard in their Sikorsky S92 will also be flying high, with the Irish Air Corps performing a few fly-by's in their CASA CN235 Maritime Patrol Aircraft, plus watch out for the Strikemaster jet, an ex-Omar Air Force reaching speeds of up to 500 mph. Ryan Taggart from Meath will also be displaying his first ever air display in his aerobatic Vans RV6.
