Our approach to reducing GHG emissions is twofold:

  • Farm
  • Processing/Distribution

At the processing/distribution level, as a first step Lee Strand has determined our carbon footprint and will introduce measures to have net zero carbon emissions by 2030. To achieve this, we will continue to apply the circular economy framework.

This is a very ambitious target and will require innovative solutions in key areas such as:

  • Waste – reduce waste generated
  • Electricity – increase percentage from renewable sources such as solar power
  • Distribution – electric vehicles and use of biofuel
  • Water – reduction and recovery measures.

Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are the most significant contributor to climate change and actions under the Paris Agreement include commitments to reduce GHG emissions.
